Since 1991, Crustacean has been San Francisco’s best-kept secret and home to the legendary Secret Kitchen® and AN’s Famous Garlic Noodles® & AN’s Famous Garlic Roasted Dungeness Crab™. But the story begins even earlier in 1971, with a humble 24-seat Italian deli that would become the heartbeat of a culinary lineage.

Now, in the heart of the Financial District, Chef Helene An’s legacy continues. Widely celebrated as the Mother of Fusion Cuisine, honored by the Smithsonian Institution, and inducted into the California Hall of Fame in 2024—for being the first to redefine Vietnamese cuisine and introducing it to mainstream America—Chef Helene continues to blend tradition with whimsical innovation at Crustacean.
At Crustacean on Pine, guests can expect the unexpected: Tuna Cigars, King Crab “Banh Khot,” and even a High Tea Penicillin cocktail, and of course, the iconic dishes that sparked a movement—Chef Helene's legendary Garlic Noodles. Spearheaded by Chef Helene’s daughter, Monique An, and Ken Lew, Monique's husband, the next generation welcomes you to experience a tradition reborn.
